...the noise was obvious, not to mention the wheel leaning inwards really bad. Dude declined the work initially (drivers UCA, 4 tires, rear brakes, alignment), but then later changed his mind. He only got 1 tire (drive front, belts were showing), the UCA and the alignment.

So we had a 6.6l come in with no oil pressure, running fine though. Scanned it, no oil pressure showing and after testing the wires decided it needed an oil pressure sending unit. Pull the sensor out and diesel fuel starts coming out...hm, that’s odd. Maybe it’s fresh oil, not likely to look that clean when it’s an 03, but going through the process nonetheless. Pull the drain plug and it poured gallons worth of diesel fuel...

Customer doesn’t want to pay for the extra diag to check the injectors, so we filled it back up and they’re gonna pass it off to the next person

Using an abrasive pad like a Scotchbrite or Brillo to clean the gasket surfaces will cause very abrasive particulate to get into the oil channels. When you fire up the engine after doing the job, there’s a momentary oil starvation aggravated by the abrasive particulate, and scores the rod bearings, halfshells, etc until the galleries are full of oil and everything resumes flowing normally. 10-15k down the road, you get a catastrophic crankshaft wobble...

One post actually failed over night then the car slipped and got caught on the the side that didn’t fail. Crane had to put its arm inside the shop and lift with cables, then retract the arm with car attached. Total mess...

Really tricky spot. Got it half way out with a ball joint press and the rest of the way with the slide hammer. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Here’s the space the ball joint press doesn’t fit

Air hammered it back in. Not on the stud obviously

So the story behind this one the car was towed into our shop from another shop. The owner had driven it there for a routine service. That shop called her and told her that they had tried to change the spark plugs but someone had put oversized ones in before and now they have to pull the cylinder head off. She told them to go ahead with it then they rang back telling her it needed a new engine. Since she had driven the car there and it was running fine before this she thought something was odd. So she called us and arranged to have it towed to our shop. This is what we can see. Not 100% sure what the other shop did but it was nasty!

I like these posts. You’re also making me fearful of half the cars driving next to me.

Man, I was mad when my daughter left a car door  open in the garage, draining the battery. I can't imagine finding that in the morning.

A hoot as always. I loved the “Russian wiper system.” Took me a few seconds to realize what I was looking at, then I lol’d.

That poor sap with the STI, tho...

And these are the most interesting posts from JRITS, not the most deadly.

Cars really should be smarter about their batteries anyway. Like tracking charge and going into a power saving mode to limit draw by powering down non-essential components like dome lights as the battery starts approaching a level where it couldn’t start the car.

Yeah, my 13 year old base model truck has that. Battery rundown protection, is what GM calls it. I was pretty pissed to  find out my 3-year old top trim Mazda does not have that :/

These pad orientation post s and the bleeder-on-the-bottom ones always make for some good “when you see it...” puzzles.
